Monkey Forest
Day 1 we mostly just recovered from another 20+ hours of traveling.
Day 2 we went to the Ubud monkey forest and saw a bunch of monkeys and pretty sculptures. After that we got some delicious food from a little restaurant near our hotel.
Tour of Ubud
Day 3 we took a tour that took us to the Bali swings, Ayung river rafting, a coffee plantation, and the rice terraces. It was a very exciting day that we will not soon forget. Our favorite part was white water rafting, where we met some really cool people, and got to see a whole new part of Bali.
Cretya and Rest day
Day 4 we spent relaxing and recovering after a long previous day. We enjoyed some amazing food and drinks.
Day 5 we went to a private area that had rice terraces, stacked infinity pools, restaurants, etc. We had an awesome time relaxing in the pools and exploring the beautiful scenery.
Waterfall and Temple Tour
Day 6 we went on a private tour around Ubud to visit multiple beautiful waterfalls and a temple. We had to deal with an insane amount of stairs to see every waterfall, which seems to be a common theme in Bali.
Amed
Day 7 we travelled from Ubud to Amed. After we checked in at our homestay, we went for a swim in the ocean.
Day 8 we had a very poor sleep because there was some critter in our room during the night. After waking up late we went to the beach again but this time we went snorkeling.
Day 9 we decided to skip Nusa Dua and stay in Amed for another few nights. After moving to our new hotel, Zoe went for a test ride on our rented scooter, and crashed… She was ok, just a little scraped up.
Day 10-12 was spent relaxing and letting Zoe heal after her accident. We travelled to Nusa Penida on day 12.
Nusa Penida Tour
Day 13 we got a private tour along the west side of Nusa Penida. We were able to see a manta ray swimming around in Kelingking Bay. After we went to the beautiful Broken Bay. Finally we ended the tour at Crystal Bay, where we were able to swim and relax on the beach.
Nusa Penida Snorkel Tour
Day 14 we went on a snorkeling tour to a few popular spots around Nusa Penida. It was a bunch of fun and was really cool to see all the unique fish. At the final spot we went the current was super strong, and was pulling everyone down the beach line, so we got to see a lot of the reef very quickly.
Day 15 we left Nusa Penida and headed to Denpasar.
Nusa Dua/Uluwatu
Day 16 we hired a driver to take us around the southern part of Bali. We spent the day visiting temples, cliff lookouts, and enjoying some delicious food. We visited the Uluwatu temple, and were able to walk around to see the cliffs and lots of monkeys. Then we had a delicious dinner, with an amazing view of the sunset.
Tanjung and Blue Lagoon Snorkeling
Day 17 we took another snorkeling tour. We had an awesome tour guide that brought us to see some “nemos”. It was really cool being able to touch the fish. We saw another titan triggerfish that was massive. Also we got to swim around with a turtle for a while before it went into a hole.
Final Day
Day 18 unfortunately we lost all the photos from today. We spent the few hours before the flight visiting a turtle rescue, getting a massage, and enjoying some good food. The turtle rescue had a bunch of different turtles, including a bunch of babies. We obviously had to get a massage before our flight to Auckland so that we were refreshed before we left.
Bali was definitely a very exciting experience and we were both sad to be leaving. I would definitely recommend visiting if you can sit through the extremely long flight.
